CORNELL BROWN

Cornell Brown, 79, entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, Sept. 6, 2018, at his brother's home.

"Hayward," as he was known to family and friends, was born on April 12, 1939, in Sumter County, a son of the late Willie Brown Sr. and Rovina Davis Brown. He was educated through the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he married Sally Goodman. He later moved to Trenton, New Jersey, where he resided for many years. After his father took ill, he moved back to Sumter to care for him and retired as a painter and roofer.

Cornell is survived by his brother, Willie Brown Jr. of Sumter; his favorite nieces and nephews, Deloris Brown, Linda Brown of Columbia, Barbara Brown of Atlanta, Tonya (Duane) Finnie of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Tonya Cheryl (Grover) Duren, Vevan (Bob) Deas of Sumter, Faytha Conyers of Rochester, New York, Julius (Hazel) Brown, Joseph Brown, Norman Brown of Sumter; a host of great-nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 3410 Hill Road, Sumter.

Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Frank Williams Jr. officiating, eulogist.

The funeral procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from the home.
