Crabbe-Furse

CHARLESTON - Lisa Joy Crabbe of Charleston and John Louden Furse of Aiken were united in marriage at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Second Presbyterian Church.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Mark MacGregor and Dr. Linda Swain Crabbe of Sumter and the granddaughter of the late Col. and Mrs. William Mervin Crabbe of Summerville and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raymond Swain of Albany, California. She graduated from Wilson Hall in 2009 and from Clemson University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing. She is employed by Caro Trans International Inc.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. William Chitwood Furse and the late Mrs. Judith Hoyt Furse and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John Claxton Hoyt and Mrs. George Harold Furse Jr. and the late Mr. Furse, all of Manning. He graduated from Laurence Manning Academy in 2009, from Clemson University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and from USC School of Law in 2016 with a Juris Doctor. He is the assistant solicitor in the 2nd Judicial Court, Aiken.

Dr. George Wilkes officiated at the ceremony.

Music was provided by BeSpoke Strings, a string quartet.

Escorted by her father, the bride wore a silk dress with lace straps that delicately embellished capped sleves and ended in a deep V-back. She wore her mother's cathedral-length veil and carried a bouquet of white ranunculus, white lisianthus, polo roses and green succulents.

Christina Crabbe Kennelly, Lauren Crabbe Neville and Caroline Crabbe Barr, all sisters of the bride, served as matrons of honor. Bridesmaids were Lauren Renee Bordeaux, Anna Lusk DuRant, Cameron Smith Furse, Stephanie James Gould, Sarah Rigter Jacobs, Mollie Kinney McMillan, Kristen Batey Self, Keaton Virginia Stroud and Frances Marie Taylor. Flower girls were Anna Clare Neville and Magdalene Swain Kennelly, nieces of the bride.

The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were William Chitwood Furse II, brother of the bridegroom; Ladson Blythe Furse, Mark Lauriston Furse and Thomas English Furse, cousins of the bridegroom; Brian Faires Kennelly, Irish Ryan Neville and David Mason Barr, brothers-in-law of the bridegroom; John Robert Mauney II, Davis Gregory Miller, John Joseph Owens and George Buist Smythe II. Connor MacGregor Kennelly, nephew of the bride, served as ring bearer.

Also participating were Caroline Turner Cromer, Larsen Faw Cline, Mrs. Harry Bailey DuRant and Mrs. Greta Howe.

The reception was given by the bride's parents at Hibernian Society Hall.

The rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom's father at the Historic Rice Mill.

Following a wedding trip to Thailand, the couple will reside in Aiken.
