Blanding, a linebacker for the Knights, has been selected as a replacement to play in the 71st edition of the Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star Football Game in Myrtle Beach.
Blanding's selection makes him the third CHS player playing in all-star game. He will join defensive back Sheddrick Ervin on the South squad for the North-South Game to be played at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach on Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at noon.
Crestwood defensive end Christopher Simon will play in the 81st annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas on the following Saturday, Dec. 16, at Wofford College's Gibbs Stadium beginning at 2 p.m. in Spartanburg.
Blanding, who is 5-feet-11-inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, had a big season for the Knights, who went 6-6 on the season but reached the second round of the 4A staste playoffs. He finished with 80 total tackles, with 21 of them being tackles for loss. He also had 10 quarterback sacks recovered two fumbles and caused two fumbles.
