Cynthia (Cynt) Delphine Black, 55, departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 at her home. Born Aug. 3, 1962 in Clarendon County, she was the daughter of Shirley Leonard Black and the late Abe Black Sr. At an early age, she joined Friendship A.M.E. Church, Silver Community, Summerton.

Cynthia worked faithfully at Sumter School District No. 17 for 17 years and Service Masters Janitorial Services for five years until her health failed. She was a faithful supporter of Sumter Thunderguards.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother, Shirley Leonard Black of the home; seven adopted children, Caroline Lopez-Ortiz, Kayla Black, Antonet Abrams, Tekelia Keitt and Gregory Black, all of Sumter, Larry Rhinehart, of Trenton, and Samantha (Cornelius Burns) Benjamin, of North Charleston; two sisters, Stephanie (Frank Jackson) Black, of Sumter, Brenda (Jerry) Womble, of Richmond, Virginia; four brothers, Abe Black Jr., Ray (Catherine/Joyce) Leonard and Tony (Deborah) Leonard, all of Sumter, Tyrone (Roberta) McBride of Richmond, Virginia; a special niece, Sabrina (Eric) Wright, of Columbia, whom she raised in her home; a special friend, Harry Lewis; 21 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 39 Second Ave., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018, 2 p.m., from the Friendship A.M.E. Church, 6156 Furse Road, Silver Community, Summerton, with the Rev. Albert Thompson, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. The procession will leave the home at 1:15 p. m. Burial will be in the Friendship A.M.E. Church Cemetery.
