David "Puzzle Man" McCray Jr., 69, entered eternal rest on June 4, 2018, in Sumter.

Born on Oct. 28, 1948, in Sumter, he was a son of the late David McCray Sr. and Ella Williams McCray. He accepted Christ at an early age. David attended the public schools in Sumter County. At an early age, he moved to Florida and then relocated back home in 1977. He worked for the Coca-Cola Co. for many years and retired from Florence Concrete. David was a very loving person. He enjoyed spending time with his family, loved dancing, watching Western movies and joking with family and friends.

David leaves to cherish his loving memories: a son, Jonathan (Amy) McCray of Sumter; a daughter, LaKisha McCray of Sumter; one brother, Johnny Lee McCray of Sumter; four sisters, Elousie Evans, Elizabeth Wise and Dorothy (Thurman) Starnes, all of Sumter, and Carol (Darron) Knox of Rembert; a special nephew, Charles B. McCray; a special uncle, Joe McCray; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Winnie Sue Smith and Margariet M. Davis; a brother, Sgt. Willie McCray; grandparents, Aaron and Winnie Williams and Sam and Elizabeth McCray; and a host of aunts and uncles.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. McCray will be placed in the church at noon on Monday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, with the Rev. Eugene Winn Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Bradford Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. daily at the home of his sister, 823 Mathis St., Sumter.

Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
