Davis' plans would open new opportunities for growth

Posted

I wanted to take the time out and write this letter on behalf of Colin Davis who is running for City Council Ward 5. I have known Colin for over 15 years and consider him to be a very honest, trustworthy, intelligent and visionary man that would be a great asset to Sumter. I have had many conversations with Colin and have spoken to him in great detail on his visions for Sumter and was truly impressed by his devotion and determination to make Sumter a better place.

Colin's hopeful plan to improve our water system and expand it along with sewer would open up new opportunities for both residential and commercial growth. It is surprising to me that in the year 2018 that we still do not have water and sewer in some of the areas leading from Sumter to Columbia. I am a business owner in Sumter and was a former commercial real estate broker in Columbia for over 25 years and find Colin's visions for soliciting and attracting new industry and economic growth for Sumter exciting!

Our district Ward 5 has had the same representative, Bob Galiano, for over 20 years, and the problems we have faced have been many without change. Our water is still not where we need it to be, and his response to install your own water filtration system at your own expense was not only irresponsible as a city councilman, but an option that most people can not afford. We already pay the City of Sumter to provide clean water, and a lot of us still do not have it. His participation records are unacceptable, and his attendance has been sparse. Our Ward 5 is in desperate need of a change, and I know Colin Davis can make it.

We need Colin Davis to provide a new vision for Sumter, to take our complaints seriously, offer practical solutions for our basic needs and help Sumter grow. I encourage everyone to get out and vote for Colin Davis and make a great change for Sumter City Ward 5 on Nov. 6.
