DON G. MCLEOD
PINEWOOD - Don Gordon "Gordie" McLeod, 65, died Sunday, March 3, 2019, at his home.
Born Nov. 25, 1953, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Marshall R. McLeod and Janie Lee Griffin McLeod. He was a graduate of Furman High School where he played linebacker for the football team. His nickname was "Mr. Football." He was voted most improved player in 1972. He was an avid fan of all sports.
Survivors include six brothers, Roland McLeod, Edward McLeod (Sandy), Steve McLeod (Gloria), Albert McLeod (Jean), Robert McLeod (Cathy) and Bubba McLeod; a sister, Lora Lee Osborne; a sister-in-law, Alice Faye McLeod; his favorite nephew, Peanut Osborne; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Marion McLeod; and a sister, Frances McLeod. Services will be private.
Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
