Born on Nov. 20, 1946, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late William Edward and Edith Emma McLeod Barwick. Mr. Barwick was a welder and worked with Williams Brothers.
Survivors include three children, James Barwick (Anne) of Manning and Willie Barwick (Michelle) and Lisa Simmons (Mike), both of Sumter; six grandchildren, Robert Barwick (Brianna), Katelynn Barwick, Erica Simmons, Aubrey Daley, Justin Turner and Cameron Holloway; eight great-grandchildren, Remington, Maddison, Mya, Marcus, Sincere, Tyrell, DJ and Aniyah; one brother, Joie Barwick of Sumter; and three sisters, Jenny Tate of Georgetown, Cassie Cruz (Felipe) of Turbeville and Bettie Barnhill (Wade King) of Summerville.
He was preceded in death by two children, Frank Edward Barwick and George Robert Barwick; one great-granddaughter, Sierra Simmons; and three brothers, Willie McLeod, George Barwick and Benjamin Barwick.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be at Sumter Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, 1555 Ethan Stone Road, Manning.
