The eight local boys and girls high school basketball teams maintained their ranked status in the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association polls released just a couple of hours before Tuesday's games. Some moved up, some moved down and some held steady, and based on the results from Tuesday's contest, some could be moving even higher.

In the 5A boys poll, Sumter High School moved from No. 8 to sixth. And that was before the Gamecocks whipped third-ranked Conway 58-42 on Tuesday.

The Sumter girls dropped from No. 9 to 10th. The Lady Gamecocks could be on the outside looking in with the next poll as they lost to Conway on Tuesday.

In the 4A girls poll, Crestwood bounced from eighth to sixth as it remained undefeated in Region VI play. The Lakewood boys dropped from No. 8 to ninth and that was before a 2-point loss to Hartsville on Tuesday. The Gators will be playing host to Darlington today with sole possession of first place in Region VI on the line.

The Manning boys moved up and the Lady Monarchs dropped in their respective 3A polls. However, the boys fell to Hanahan on Tuesday, while the girls won in overtime.

After entering the 3A boys poll at No. 6 two weeks ago, Manning is now ranked third. The Lady Monarchs dropped from No. 3 to eighth.

Lee Central moved up to No. 4 in the 2A boys poll after being ranked fifth in the previous poll. The Stallions have since picked up victories over Chesterfield on Tuesday and Central on Wednesday.

The East Clarendon girls held steady at No. 2 in the 1A poll, but the Lady Wolverines could easily be ranked No. 1 in the next poll, assuming they don't fall to Hannah-Pamplico today.

EC hammered No. 1 Green Sea-Floyds 64-30 on Tuesday.

The 2A girls and 1A boys polls are the only ones in which a local team isn't ranked.

The top teams in the boys polls are Dorman in 5A, Wilson in 4A, Ridgeland-Hardeeville in 3A, Gray Collegiate in 2A and Williston-Elko in 1A.

The other top girls teams are Spring Valley in 5A, North Augusta in 4A, Emerald in 3A and Marion in 2A.
