Eleanora Ladson Williams, affectionately known as "Shorttie," was born on Nov. 19, 1949, the second of seven children to Velia Mae Ladson and the late Alex Ladson Jr. She departed this life on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018.

She was married to Charles Frank Williams for 46 years and to this union two children were born.

Eleanora attended Eastern High School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. At an early age, Eleanora joined Mulberry Baptist Church, where she was a member of the YWA ministry, senior citizens ministry and the adult choir. She also worked with the Sunbeam and Junior Choir and youth department. She was founding member of the Bradley-Fullard Family Reunion Chapter of South Carolina.

Mrs. Williams was recently employed as a personal assistant to Attorneys Terry Horne and the late Martha Horne.

"Shorttie" leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Charles Williams; two daughters, Greta Williams of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Erica Williams of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Jasmin Bennett of Charlotte and Miyah Bennett of Boston; four sisters, Mozella (Leon) Hicks, Bernice Keels, Gloria (Willie) Amos and Lottie (Drafus) Ford; two brothers, Ervin Ladson and Floyd Tisdale; six aunts, Deaconess Earline Bradley, Martha Bradley, Mary Agnes Gibson, Mollie Ross, Virginia Robinson, all of Sumter, and Bessie James of Clariton, Pennsylvania; one uncle, William Jennings; two sisters-in-law, Rosetta (James Lee) Lowery and Henrietta (Louis) Galloway; four brothers-in-law, James (Glinda) Williams, Alexander (Betty) Williams, George Williams and Leon (Joyce) Lowery; a goddaughter, Lakiesha Williams; best friend, Clover James of Philadelphia; special nieces and nephews, Freda Hicks, Floyd A. Keels, Jamie T. Amos and Jason R. Amos; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Eleanora was preceded in death by her father, Alex Ladson Jr.; and a brother, Eldorado Tony Ladson.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mrs. Williams will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Thursday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. William Dukes officiating and Pastor Leroy Blanding, eulogist. Interment will follow at Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 1101 Pulpit St., Sumter, SC 29150.
