EUGENE WELLS
Eugene Wells, husband of Gloria J. Rhodes Wells, was born on May 16, 1953, in Sumter, a son of the late Andrew and Evester Gass Wells.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pastor Shirley Holliday and Catherine Elaine Westley; and three sisters-in-law, Patricia Gass, Pearl Richardson and Viola Baxter.
He departed this earthly life on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.
Mr. Eugene Wells leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving wife, Gloria Jean Rhodes Wells; son, David Rhodes; several nieces and nephews raised in the home, Antwan James, Chenaqia James, Cheneice James and Breanna Lesane; several grandnieces and nephews, NyQuiauvon Vaughn, Antwan James Jr., Wynni James, Zynek James, Carmello Simmons, Jasani Chatman, Javin Chatman, Chad Johnson Jr., Twa'nashia James, G'aBreion Rubin, Gabriel Lesane and G'Ovontae Lesane; two sisters, Geneva (Lindsay) Washington and Jessie Mae (Michael) Frierson; six brothers, Leon Gass, Jimmy Wells, Anthony (Terrie) Wells, Leroy Wells, Oliver Gass and Andrew Wells; aunt, Eva Mae (Raymond) Shivers; two uncles, Eugene Gass and James (Evelyn) Gass; several brothers-in-law; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at St. Paul Holiness Church, 129 1/2 W. Moore St., Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Anticoh UME Church Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at the mortuary.
The family is receiving friends at 507 Loring Drive, Sumter.
