Evelyn M. Wright McFadden, 91, widow of the late Otto Wright, Sr. and Clarence McFadden, departed this earthly life on Dec. 20, 2017, at the McLeod Hospice House. Born on Nov. 15, 1926, in Lee County, she was the daughter of the late Soloman and Emmaline Carter Moses. She attended the public schools of Lee County.
Mrs. McFadden, affectionately known as "Mrs. Honey," was a faithful member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she was a member of The United Methodist Women and The Stewardess Board. She was a member of the Sons & Daughters of Job Chapter 218 and The National Council of Negro Women.
She was employed by The Lynchburg Elliot Child Development Center where she retired after 25 years of dedicated service.
Mrs. McFadden leaves to cherish her memories: four children, Leola (Nathaniel) Lowery of Lynchburg, Viola (Willie) Cody of Waterloo, Iowa, Otto (Vanessa) Wright of Smyrna, Georgia, and Walter Lee McFadden of Greenville; one sister, Marian Moses of Bishopville; 14 grandchildren, a host of great grands, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mrs. McFadden was preceded in death by her son, James Moses, and eight sisters and brothers.
Public viewing will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Job's Mortuary.
Mrs. McFadden will be placed in the church on Wednesday at 10 a.m. for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 16 Clarence McFadden Road, Elliot, SC, with the Rev. Lee Johnson, Officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery in Elliot.
Family will be receiving friends at 324 Lowery Lane, Lynchburg, SC 29080.
