First-rounds pairings set for middle school hoops tourneys

The first-round pairings have been set for both the boys and girls bracket in the Sumter Middle School Conference basketball tournament.
The girls games will be played on Wednesday. Top seed Chestnut Oaks, which is 13-1 on the season, will play host to No. 8 Manning (2-12), No. 2 Furman (12-2) will be at home against No. 7 Mayewood (2-12), No. 3 Alice Drive (10-4) will welcome in No. 6 Ebenezer (5-9) and No. 4 Bates (6-8) will play host to No. 5 Hillcrest (6-8).
The boys games will be played on Thursday. No. 1 seed Alice Drive (12-2) will be at home against No. 8 Hillcrest (0-14), No. 2 Chestnut Oaks (11-3) will welcome in No. 7 Ebenezer (2-12), No. 3 Manning (10-4) will play host to No. 6 Furman (5-9) and No. 4 Mayewood (10-4) will be at home against No. 5 Bates (7-7).

Alice Drive 62

Stevye Sinkler scored 51 points to lead Alice Drive to a 62-47 victory over Mayewood on Monday at the MMS gymnasium.
Me Kewanna Steans added six points for the Lady Hawks.

VARSITY BASKETBALL
Thomas Sumter 44
Augusta Prep 34

DALZELL – Thomas Sumter Academy improved to 13-7 by defeating Augusta Prep 44-34 on Saturday at Edens Gymnasium.
Aubrey Stoddard led the Lady Generals with 18 points. Taja Hunley had seven points and 12 rebounds, while Carmen Silvester had six points, eight rebounds and five steals.
Sydney Daniel had six points and Josie Reed had six assists.

JV BASKETBALL
Thomas Sumter 29
Augusta Prep 25

DALZELL – Thomas Sumter defeated Augusta Prep 29-25 on Saturday at Edens Gymnasium.
Lindsay Daniel led the Lady Generals with nine points and nine rebounds. Karleigh Young and Clara Burnette both had six points and eight rebounds, and Aliyah Gibson had six points.

On Friday in Dalzell, TSA defeated Williamsburg 27-17. Lizzie Silvester led Thomas Sumter with seven points and five steals. Daniel had sixpoints and Young and Burnette both had four points and six rebounds.

Laurence Manning 45
Camden Military 24

MANNING – Laurence Manning Academy improved to 7-2 with a 45-24 victory over Camden Military on Monday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.
Mickey Jordan led the Swampcats with eight points. Coleman Yates had seven and Brandon King and Bryce Acord both had six.
On Thursday, LMA lost to Cardinal Newman 28-22. King had 10.

MS BASKETBALL
Scott’s Branch 36
D.P Cooper 32

SALTERS – Scott’s Branch defeated D.P. Cooper 36-32 on Thursday at the DPC gymnasium.
Tyler Kind led the Eagles with eight points. Tariq Coard and Tydarian Chandler both had six.


VARSITY BASKETBALL

Camden Military 46

DALZELL – Thomas Sumter Academy improved to 9-7 with a 58-46 victory over Camden Military on Saturday at Edens Gymnasium.
Zach Fugate led TSA with 21 points. Mason Warren had 13 points, while the Generals had 14 steals as a team.
Kermani Nix led CM with 18 points and Harrison Mills had 10.
