Friday is deadline to apply for absentee by mail ballot

The deadline to apply for an absentee by mail ballot for the June 12 primary is on Friday.

Sumter County Voter Registration and Elections office is now open for absentee voting from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday in Room 114, first floor of the historic Sumter County Courthouse, 141 N. Main St.

Absentee voting will also be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday in Room 114 of the historic courthouse.

This is the only time absentee voting will be held on a Saturday for the primary, said Sumter County Voter Registration and Election Director Patricia Jefferson.

Absentee voting began on May 14.
