A fall safety festival, presented by Central Carolina Technical College's Student Nurses Association and the Criminal Justice Association, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, in the parking lot of the Health Sciences Center, 113 S. Main St. In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be held at the Legal Studies Center, 111 S. Main St. Demonstrations will be given by Sumter Fire Department, Sumter County Sheriff's Office and Safe Kids. This event is free to the public. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The Sumter Branch NAACP 34th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Sumter County Civic Center, 700 W. Liberty St. The Rev. Dr. James S. Cooper, presiding elder of the Northeast Conference Sumter District AME Church, will speak.
