Gamecocks rally for 6-5 victory over Camden in 10 innings

CAMDEN - Sumter High School's varsity baseball team rallied from a 4-0 deficit after three innings to beat Camden 6-5 in 10 innings on Monday in the Camden High School Spring Break Tournament at the CHS field.

The Gamecocks trailed 4-2 entering the seventh but scored three runs in the top of the inning to grab the lead. The Bulldogs, however, scored in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings.

Drake Thames pitched 3 2/3 innings of 1-run ball to get the win. Bryce Lyons pitched the final inning to get the save.

Wylie Coker pitched 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief after taking over in the fourth inning for starter Jacob Holladay.

Thames was 2-for-3 at the plate with a triple and three runs batted in. Sebastian DuCom and Lyons both had two hits, while Victor Brown had a double, a run scored and an RBI. Holladay also had a hit and an RBI.

DARLINGTON - Manning High School lost to Darlington 11-1 in six innings on Monday at the DHS field.

The Monarchs fell to 3-15 on the season.

MANNING - Laurence Manning Academy defeated Providence Athletic Club 12-2 in six innings on Monday at Tucker Belangia Diamond to improve to 13-0.

Davis Campbell, Mikey Jordan, Austin Geddings, Henry Black, TJ Hicks and Jackson Campbell each had an RBI in LMA's 7-run second inning.

Jordan finished with three RBI.

Hicks pitched the first three innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out one. Keaton Wildes pitched the final three, allowing the other run.

VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD

Lee Central's Hickmon, Henry win 2 events

KERSHAW - Lee Central High School's Chardonna Hickmon and NyAsia Henry both won two events in a 4-team meet at the Andrew Jackson High track on Thursday.

Hickmon won the 100-meter dash in a time of 12.61 seconds and the 200 in 26.36 seconds. Henry won the discus with a personal best toss of 103 feet, 10 inches, and the shot put with a throw of 30-05.

TaShanna Harris finished second in the discus for the Lady Stallions.

In the boys meet, LC's Ed Benjamin was second in both the 200 and the triple jump, while Samir Toney was third in the 100.

AJHS won both of the meets. It won the girls meet with 75 points followed by Lewisville with 46, Lee Central with 42 and Marlboro County with 28.

AJHS won the boys meet 101 points. Lewisville had 53, Marlboro County 44 and Lee Central 22.
