GEORGE D. HACKETT

George D. Hackett, age 97, beloved husband of the late Genevieve "Jean" A. Hackett, died on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born in Versailles Boro, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late George J. and Edna McClafferty Hackett. Mr. Hackett was a veteran of the Navy and served during World War II. Mr. Hackett retired from Crescent Tool and went on to work for Sub Station II Corporate. He loved to play golf and started caddying at the age of 13 and enjoyed playing until age 89. He was an avid Steelers and Notre Dame fan. Mr. Hackett was a member of St. Anne and St. Jude Catholic Church.

Surviving are four sons, Kevin Hackett and his wife, Diana, of Lewisville, North Carolina, Bruce Hackett and his wife, Sheila, of Floyd's Knob, Indiana, Alan Hackett of Sumter and Michael Hackett and his wife, Ginger, of Chapin; four daughters, Paula DuBose and her husband, Carl, of Dalzell, Sharon Cope and her husband, Jay, of Lewisville, Susan Vaden and her husband, Robert, of Sumter and Patricia Pecko and her husband, John, of Woodbine, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Monica Koszela of Thousand Oaks, California, and Louise Moreno and her husband, Bill, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma Brown.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bullock Funeral Home.
