GIGI M. HERZER

Posted

Gigi M Herzer, age 56, received her wings on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at her home in Sumter.

Gigi was born on April 18, 1962, in Rosiclare, Illinois. She worked as a paralegal in her early years and later as a counselor for drug and alcohol rehabilitation but her biggest accomplishment was earning her title as "Mimi" to seven grandchildren. In 2002, she married her best friend, David Herzer, they were together 16 years. Gigi was extremely passionate and loved helping people, volunteering in the church nursery with babies and always donating her time in the community. She was a bright light with a contagious laugh who brought so much happiness to everyone she came in contact with. Even with her illness and health problems working against her, she still pushed through every day and managed a smile. Stubborn? Not at all. She preferred strong-willed.

Loved ones who cleared the path for Gigi are her father, John Bau; sister, Ginger Bau; and beloved aunt, Boo Boo.

Loved ones who will miss Gigi until they meet again are her mother and stepfather, Mary and Robert Owens; brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Morgan; her husband, David; daughter, Tassie; daughter and son-in-law, Jaci and Zac; daughter, Amanda; son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Renee; furbaby, Lacie; as well as her heart and joy, her grandbabies, as she called them. They were the people she loved the most in this world. We all know there was no place like Mimi's house and the time spent there was always very special.

Friends and family will come together on Saturday at Lake Wateree recreation area to celebrate her life. Family will be available for visitation from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Celebration of life at 1 p.m.

We would like to ask that, in lieu of flowers, you donate to Any Length Recovery Center in Sumter or the Lupus Foundation of America.

You may go to www.bullockfuneralhome.com and sign the family's guest book.

The family has chosen Bullock Funeral Home for the arrangements.
