James Ginther, 26, who has been charged with kidnapping and murder in the death investigation of his ex-wife, Suzette Ginther, was extradited from Kentucky shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, according to Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

The body of the 27-year-old Cherryvale woman was found in a shallow grave in Manchester State Forest off Burnt Gin Road on Nov. 16, just hours after she was reported missing after she failed to show up for work in Columbia.

She reportedly died of a single gunshot wound — details of where have not been released.

Ginther was arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, after he reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and hit a guard rail. Sumter County Sheriff's Office had issued a warrant for his arrest earlier that day.

His first appearance hearing is scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
