Hawks shut out Furman 14-0


The Alice Drive Middle School football team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 14-0 victory over Furman on Tuesday at the AD field.

Tavionne Ingram scored both of the touchdowns for the Hawks. Dae'Breaun Gooden had a 2-point conversion.

Davin Jackson and Dreshawn Wright led Alice Drive with seven tackles apiece. Gooden had six tackles.

Mayewood 42

Hillcrest 0

DALZELL - Mayewood Middle School defeated Hillcrest 42-0 victory on Tuesday at Donald L. Crolley Memorial Stadium.

Derrick Prince, Zaylen Myers and Quinton Harrison each scored two touchdowns for the Vikings.


WH girls 2nd, boys third

DARLINGTON - Wilson Hall's girls placed second and the boys finished third in the Darlington Invitational on Monday at the Darlington High School course.

The Lady Barons finished with a score of 35, while Hartsville won the race with a score of 32.

Kirsten Fisher led WH by placing second overall. Margaret Briggs Kelly was third, Molly Moss fourth, Emily Reynolds eighth and Ann Weathers Blankenship was 18th.

The boys finished with 68 points, behind Hartville at 38 and Darlington at 43. Bryce Lyles led the Barons by finishing second overall. Layton Creech was seventh, Matthew Blankenship 12th, and Drew Davis and Matthew Taveraz tied for 24th.

ORANGEBURG - Wilson Hall improved to 11-10 with a 3-0 victory over Orangeburg Prep on Tuesday at the OP gymnasium.

The Lady Barons, who are 2-1 in region play, won by the scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-22.

Courtney Clark led WH with 15 kills and Chandler Curtis had 19 assists. Betsy Noyes had two blocks.

Trinity-Byrnes 0

DALZELL - Thomas Sumter Academy remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over Trinity-Byrnes on Monday at Edens Gymnasium.

The 14-0 Lady Generals won by the scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-18.

Josie Reed had 18 service points to lead TSA, and Sydney Daniel set 15 assists. Taja Hunley had 12 kills, and Anita Cookey-Gam had 10 kills.

MANNING - Laurence Manning Academy dropped to 0-8 with a 3-0 loss to Orangeburg Prep on Monday at Bubba Davis Gymnasium.

OP won by the scores of 25-9, 25-13, 25-13,

Perry Lee Love Hicks had 10 assists, one dig, five service points and two aces to lead LMA. Trinity Harrington had seven kills, one dig and one service point, Kayla Acord had three kills, one dig, one point and one ace and Madisyn Hudson had three assists and one point.

OP won by the scores of 25-11, 25-18. Abby Anderson led LMA with six assists, four digs and eight points. Brooke Thompson had four kills, one dig, two points and two aces.

Furman Middle School swept a pair of matches from Mayewood on Tuesday at the FMS gymnasium, winning both by the scores of 2-0.

The Lady Indians won the opening match by the scores of 25-14, 25-17 and the second 25-14, 28-26.

A'Niyah Choice led Furman with 15 aces, three kills and one assist. Alexis Rodgers had four aces and two assists and Alyssa Geddings had two aces, eight kills and one assist.

On Monday, Sept. 18, Furman split a pair of matches with Alice Drive. AD won the opener 25-23, 25-22 and Furman won the second 25-19, 14-25, 15-8.
