He was born on Feb. 19, 1927, in Paxville, a son the late York and Elizabeth Mitchell Way. He was a supportive husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed his special time with his grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his four children, Helen Way Johnson, Humzie Way Jr. and Elizabeth Way (Harrison Sr.) Thompson, all of Sumter, and Susan Way Rolls of Greenville; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Flossie Way; one daughter, Gwendolyn Watkins; five brothers; and four sisters.
Public Viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.
Mr. Way will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Paxville, with the pastor, the Rev. Clifford Gaymon, officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary-Zion Cemetery, Pinewood.
The family will be receiving friends at 169 Hoyt St., Sumter.
