Inez Weathers Bullard, 96, was called from life into eternal rest on Thursday night, May 3, 2018, in Lyons, Georgia.

Born on July 7, 1921, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Nellie Hunter and Janie and Edmund Gadson. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of High Hills AME Church.

She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in elementary education from Allen University, Columbia. For more than 40 years, she utilized her God-given talents as an educator to transform young minds and received numerous accolades and certificates. During her extensive career, she was employed in the school districts of Williamsburg County, Jasper County, Evans County, Georgia, Screven County, Georgia and, ultimately, in Toombs County, Georgia, where she retired after 33 years.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Edward Bullard of Lyons; two sisters, Angie Gathers of Sumter and Harriett White of Baltimore; six nephews, including two that were like her own, Carl (Rosa) Hunter of Sumter and Darryll (Cynthia) Gadson of Durham, North Carolina; nine nieces, including a dedicated and devoted niece, Deirdre Robinson of Columbia; two stepdaughters, Geneva Terrell of Vidalia, Georgia, and Mae Bullard of Bradenton, Florida; one stepson, Charles Bullard of Bradenton; two step-grandchildren; and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, extended family and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home of her sister, 1585 N. Kings Highway, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at High Hills AME Church, 6780 Meeting House Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Keith R. Mayes Sr., pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. for viewing until time of services.

The procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.

Burial will be at High Hills AME Churchyard cemetery.
