Irvin D. Jefferson Sr., affectionately known as "Squirrel Magoo," was born Oct. 22, 1946, to the late Harry Jefferson Sr. and Sarah Lou Spann Jefferson. Irvin departed this life on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at his residence.

Irvin received his education at Eastern High School. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age.

"Squirrel Magoo" lived in the Mayesville community most of his life and was formerly employed by Shaw Lumber Inc. and, most recently, Frasier Tire in Sumter.

Irvin was joined in holy matrimony to the late Sue Bell Epps Jefferson, and they were blessed with seven children together. He was very humble and enlightened in his own way.

He leaves to cherish his two daughters, Mary Jefferson and Samara Jefferson of Sumter; four sons, Irvin Jefferson Jr., Kevin (Tiffany) Jefferson, Tyrell and Andrew Jefferson, all of Sumter; his sisters, Sarah J. Hampton and Carolyn J. Lesane, both of Mayesville, Hammie (Earl) English of St. John and Delores (Eddie) Walker of Oklahoma; two very special sisters-in-law, Rosa L. Jefferson and Gwendolyn Jefferson; two additional sisters-in-law, Gerldine Spears and Jacqueline Lambertis, both of Baltimore, Maryland; three brothers-in-law, Curtis, Jimmy and Jeffrey Spears; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Jefferson (Lavonna) Pack, Lashira Cobia, Kenyelle, Kendall and Kendric Jefferson, Keon Pack, Dominian Smith and Amera Jefferson; four great-grandchildren, Tyshawn White, Lyric and Lavontae Pack and Ariah Dean; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Irvin was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry Jr., Marion and Carl Jefferson; and a son, baby boy Jefferson.

Public viewing will be held today from 2 to 6 p.m. at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Jefferson will be placed in the church Thursday at 1 p.m. for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ebenezer AME Church, 119 E. Sumter St., Mayesville, SC 29104, with the Rev. Phillip Washington, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mayesville Community Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the home, 40-A Somerset Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
