ISABELLE MCCUTCHEN

BISHOPVILLE - Isabelle Bailey McCutchen, widow of Luther Oliver McCutchen, died on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at the age of 91.

She was born on July 18, 1927, in Summerville, a daughter of Charles Ernest Bailey and Ruth Rowell Bailey. Isabelle graduated from Summerville High School and from Brenau College, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Upon graduation from Brenau, she moved to Bishopville, where she met her husband, whom she married in 1949.

Mrs. McCutchen was a very active member of Bishopville Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Bishopville Book Club. She was a board member of the Friends of the Library for many years. She was a member of the DAR and belonged to two Shang Hai card clubs and so loved playing with her friends. Isabelle was also very well known as a dedicated and wonderful third grade teacher at Bishopville Primary School and Lee Academy.

She is survived by a son, Luther Oliver McCutchen III and wife, Ponnie, of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Ruth McCutchen Knight and husband, Bert, of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Sarah "Sallie" Mccutchen Vallini (Daniel), Luther "Mac" Oliver Mccutchen IV (Kim), Elizabeth "Liz" McCutchen Farlow (Will), Isabelle Bailey Knight, Charlotte Knight Atkinson (Chris) and Sarah Taylor Knight; and great-grandchildren, Isabelle Marshall Vallini and Daniel Nash Vallini.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Wednesday at Bishopville Presbyterian Church with burial in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home of Bishopville is serving the family.
