Born in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late George and Annie Bell Bailey Rogers. Mr. Rogers served as a member of the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War and retired as a technical sergeant after more than 24 years of loyal service. After his military career, he worked for more than 16 years at the Auto Hobby Shop on Shaw Air Force Base. He was a lifetime member of the Jamil Shrine Club. He enjoyed going to the lake, camping and fishing. He will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Chris, are two sons, Teddy Harold Rogers and his wife, Leslie, of Florida and Terry D. Rogers of Dalzell; one daughter, Tamie C. Perko and husband, Michael, of Virginia; four grandchildren, Laura, Jason, Tiffany and Hannah; and four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Allison, Taelyn and Lillian.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bullock Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Palmetto Tuomey Hospice, 500 Pinewood Road, Suite 2, Sumter, SC 29154.
