Born on Nov. 22, 1966, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mike was a retired Air Force master sergeant and had been stationed at Shaw Air Force Base. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm during the Iraqi War. He was currently employed at Central Carolina Technical College as an IT tech.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Jimmy and Dianne Barfield of Texarkana, Arkansas; a brother, Dr. Russell Barfield of Alexandria, Virginia; a grandmother, Ella Faye Barfield of Gurdon, Arkansas; one uncle and two aunts, all of Arkansas; a special cousin, Byron Barfield of New Orleans; and his special friends in the IT Department at Central Carolina Technical College.
He was predeceased by his mother, Carolyn Walters Barfield of Columbus, Georgia, in 2003.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date at his father's home in Arkansas.
