JEAN CULBERTSON LEWIS

Jean Culbertson Lewis, born Nov. 17, 1954, joined her heavenly father on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020.

Wife and mother, Jean loved her husband, Barry; daughters, Katie and Elizabeth; and sons-in-law, Andy and Josh, fiercely. She cared for them along with everyone that she came in contact with. Her gifts of service, creativity and self-sacrifice were evident in her involvement in public schools, her church and the surrounding community. During the last decade, Jean endured a long struggle with depression, as she searched for purpose and peace. She also fought a four-year battle with peritoneal cancer. Despite her hardships, her love for her family, friends and Savior never faltered.

Jean is survived by her husband, Barry; children, Katie and Andy Kerechanin and Elizabeth and Josh Temple; older brother, Chuck Culbertson; and numerous friends, family and acquaintances whom she blessed with her love.

Jean ends her earthly journey where it began, Charleston, South Carolina.

The service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Live Oakes Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414. Jean's wishes are that those attending wear bright colors and bring colorful umbrellas in case of rain.

Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made in Jean's honor to the Foundations for Women's Cancer and/or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
