She was a daughter of Sandra Worrell Dukes and the late Moses Dukes Jr. Born and raised in Sumter, Jillian was an accomplished musician who learned to play several musical instruments. She was a member of the band in middle school as well as Lakewood High School. She also enjoyed gardening, which she learned from her mother. Her favorite quote, "Success is going from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm," was taught to her by her mother. Jillian is remembered as a very loving and caring soul, who made friends easily everywhere she went. The relationships formed with her family and friends were the most important part of her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving in addition to her mother are two brothers, Nicholas Dukes of Bishopville and Kenneth M. Dukes of Columbia; and three sisters, Savannah Lynn Gloria and her husband, Dave, of San Diego, Andrea Dukes McCray and her husband, Lorenzo, of Columbia and Pamela Harvin and her husband, Byron, of Columbia.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jillian Dukes "Go Fund Me" page.
You may go to www.bullockfuneralhome.com and sign the family's guest book.
