A homegoing memorial service for John E. Wiley will be held at noon on Friday at High Hills AME Church with the Rev. Keith R. Mayes Sr. officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home, 60 Keels Road, Sumter, SC 29154.

Mr. Wiley transitioned on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at his home in Sumter.
Born in Sumter County, he was the third of six children born to Louvenia Reid Wiley and the late Sammie Lee Wiley Sr. John was a graduate of Sumter High School Class of 1974. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Duke University in 1978 and attended Princeton University, where he studied dentistry. Mr. Wiley returned to his home community of Sumter and was employed by the Sumter, Richland and Lee counties Special Needs and Disability Boards. He was also a dedicated member of High Hills AME Church, where he served in numerous capacities.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Ervin Wiley.
Survivors include his mother, Louvenia R. Wiley; brothers, Paul (Althea) Baldwin of Atlanta, Sammie Lee Jr. (Cynthia) Wiley of Chesterfield, Virginia, and Kenneth (De'Shaune) Wiley of Charleston; sisters, Minnie R. Wiley and Barbara (Chris) Blanding, both of Sumter; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
