Born on Aug. 21, 1940, in Lee County, he was a son of the late John Williams Sr. and Rose Mae Williams Spivey. He worked at Korn Industries Inc. for most of his life, until he retired. He enjoyed working in the yard and going fishing.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Glories Williams; two daughters, Barbara (Monte) Hunt of the home and Daisy Hunt of Sumter; five sons, Jerome Tention and Edward Hunt of Sumter, Andrew (Patricia) of Bristol, Pennsylvania, Jerry (Mary Ann) Hunt and Ike Bradley; three sisters, Rose Ann Spivey, Nancy Ann Jones and Ella Jean Williams; one brother, Willie "Rico" Jones; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 117 Carolina Ave., Sumter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Pastor Wanda Martin officiating, eulogist.
The funeral procession will leave at 12:30 p.m. from the home.
Burial will be at Bradford Cemetery.
