Born on April 23, 1945, in Montreal, Canada, he was a son of the late Ernest Joseph and Gertrude Lea St. Germain Godin. He was the owner and operator of Done Rite Construction Co. and he was a member of Community Church of Sumter.
In addition to his wife of Sumter, he is survived by three sons, Larry Dean Smith Jr. (Kimberly) of Manning, Roger Allen Smith of Sumter and Ernest Hugh Smith of Midland, Texas; a daughter, Robin Joleen Anderson (Michael) of Sumter; a brother, Gene Godin (Cathy) of Detroit; five sisters, Jeannette Godin (LaFreniere) and Claire Godin (Guy), both of Montreal, Liza Godin (Mark) of Quebec City, Canada, and Lyada Godin and Danielle Godin, both of Soreal, Canada; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday at Community Church, 3600 Pinewood Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Don Riner officiating.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 4495 Pond Loop Road, Sumter.
