JOSEPH WRIGHT

Joseph Wright, 63, departed this life on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Born on Dec. 19, 1955, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Theodore Wright Sr. and Hester Nixon Wright. Mr. Wright was reared in a Christian home and learned early in life the value of discipline, hard work and the meaning of family. He attended High Hills AME Church in his youth and was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Throughout his life, he worked for Tom Brown Construction and was self-employed as a carpenter.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: one son, Joseph Wright of Sumter; two brothers, Sammie and Peter Wright of Sumter; five sisters, Elanore Little, Lue Alice Singleton, Pamela Wright and Orbedella Wright, all of Rembert, and Carolyn Ansum of Atlanta; six aunts and uncles; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 7335 Scales Road, Rembert.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Charlie Howard officiating, eulogist.

The procession will leave the home at 1:20 p.m.
