Elder Josh De'Andra Charles, widower of Evangelist Theresa Charles, was born on March 27, 1962, in Sumter, a son of Josh Charles Jr. and Susanna Charles.

Josh attended local public schools and graduated from Sumter High School in June 1980. He then enlisted in the United States Army as a supply specialist. He then traveled around the world being stationed in various military duty posts.

Josh was a product of a deeply devoted religious heritage, where he was nurtured in faith under the guidance of his parents at Allen Chapel AME Church. Josh loved church and was a devoted father to his four children. He gave an enormous amount of his life developing his spiritual skills and preached the word of God to many at his present church, The Love Center Nondenominational Church.

On Friday, May 4, 2018, at his home in Sumter, Elder Charles made his transition from this world of sin, sickness and sorrow to his heavenly home.

Fond and loving memories will be cherished by his children, Ian Jermaine (Aretha) Furman of Kileen, Texas, De'Andre Christopher Charles and Dominique Lamont (Donna) Charles of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, and Tiffany Antionette Charles of Columbia; four grandchildren, Donyae' Jermaine, Iyanna Michelle, Justice B., Aden Jermaine and Dawson Emmanuel, and an additional grandchild expected, Harley Gwendolyn Theresa; three brothers, Hazel (Lydia) Charles of Sumter, Malcolm Charles of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lincoln (Seymonia) Charles of Rock Hill; three sisters, Anna (Leon) Williams, Cherry Charles and Lelia (Sherry) Charles, all of Sumter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George (Geraldine) Nichols, Geroge II (Shirley) Furman, Olivia (Lavanda) Choplin, Anthony (Geraldine) Furman, Reginald (Cerdetricia) Furman and Cassandra (Rick) Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews, loving friends and devoted church members.

Josh was preceded in death by his wife, Evangelist Theresa Charles; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, the Rev. George and Ada Furman.

Public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Elder Charles will be placed in the church at noon on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 325 W. Fulton St., Sumter, with Bishop L. McKinney officiating and the Rev. Jimmy C. Bell, eulogist. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 50 Stonehedge Court, Sumter, SC 29154.
