Lakewood holds off Lee Central 62-55


BISHOPVILLE – The Lakewood High School varsity boys basketball team opened its season with a 62-55 victory over Lee Central on Tuesday at the LC gymnasium.

The Gators had four players score in double figures. Terrell Houston led LHS with 15 points. Grant Singleton added 13, Quentin Hodge had 12 and Ahkeem Lawson added 10.

Daequan Thomas led the Stallions, who fell to 2-2 on the season, with 14 points. Daveon Thomas added 13.

HOPKINS – Crestwood High School lost to Lower Richland 67-42 on Tuesday at the Diamond Mine in its first game under head coach Tony Wilson.

The Knights play host to Lee Central on Friday.

MANNING – Manning High School had four players score in double figures as it defeated East Clarendon 84-47 on Tuesday at Thames Arena.

David Fulton led the Monarchs with 16 points. De’juan Wilson added 14, Darius Williams had 13 and Leonard Nelson had 11. Cam’ron Cain added eight.

Camerion Sheriod led EC with 12 points. Tyjhai Calvin had 11 and Frank Barns had eight.

Pinewood Prep 85

SUMMERVILLE – Laurence Manning Academy fell to 1-1 with an 85-41 loss to Pinewood Prep on Tuesday at the PP gymnasium.

Dawson Hatfield, Taylor Lee and Grayson Dennis each scored seven points to lead LMA.

The Swampcats take on Oakbrook Prep on Thursday in the Trinity-Byrnes Tournament.

COLUMBIA – Wilson Hall fell to 1-2 with a 64-41 loss to Heathwood Hall on Tuesday at the HH gymnasium.

Daulton Dabbs and Jake Meyers both had seven points to lead the Barons. Landon Scott and Greyson Sonntag both had six.

Matthew Lee led the Highlanders with 13, while Isiah Caldwell and Justice Hill both had 12. Will Hall added 10.

COLUMBIA – Wilson Hall improved to 2-0 with a 38-14 victory over Heathwood Hall on Tuesday at HH gymnasium.

Wise Segars led the Barons with 14 points. Miller Jones had eight.

COLUMBIA – Jackson Duvall scored 20 points to lead Wilson Hall to a 45-30 win over Heathwood Hall on Tuesday at the HH gymnasium.

Dylan Richardson added 10 points for the 2-0 Barons.

DALZELL – Mayewood defeated Hillcrest 51-36 in the season opener for both teams on Monday at the HMS gymnasium.

Leslie Owens led the Wildcats with 12 points. Brent Staley added eight.
