List of Hurricane Michael closures and cancellations for Sumter, Lee, Clarendon counties
Following is a list, which is being updated as new information comes in, of all closures and cancellations related to Hurricane Michael in Sumter, Lee and Clarendon counties. If you have a closure or cancellation you can officially release to us that is not on this list, please email pressrelease@theitem.com.
All Santee-Lynches Regional Council of Governments offices will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
The Greater Sumter Chamber of Commerce will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 11 and is planning to reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday.
The Sumter Item's front office will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11. We will still be here, covering the storm and the news happening in our community. Expect a paper Friday and updates online as they come in.
Central Carolina Technical College will close all campuses on Thursday, Oct. 11.
Sumter Family YMCA will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 11. Barring any power outages or damage in the area, it will reopen on Friday at 8 a.m.
The Harvin Clarendon County Library in Manning will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 11. Overdue fees will not be charged for items while the library is closed due to the weather.
All offices of Tandem Health will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
Clarendon County government offices will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11. Pending the storm's impact, normal business hours will resume on Friday.
USC Sumter will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
The offices of the City of Sumter, South Carolina and Sumter County government will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
All City of Sumter residential and commercial sanitation services, including garbage, recycling and debris, are postponed. Thursday customer routes will resume a regular schedule next week.
All City of Sumter parks will be closed Thursday.
All Clarendon School District 2 schools will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
Lee County School District will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11, and all extracurricular activities, after-school programs and athletic events will be canceled on Wednesday, Oct. 10 and Thursday.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close all movable bridges to marine traffic Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m.
Sumter School District will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11, with plans to re-open Friday unless otherwise announced.
Shepherd Center classes will be closed Thursday, Oct. 11.
The 20th Medical Group, including the BX Pharmacy, will be closed on Thursday. Oct. 11.
The following FSS facilities will close starting Thursday, Oct. 11: Child Development Center, Family Child Care, Youth programs, Rickenbackers, Carolina Skies Club, Afterburner Grill, Tee Top Café, Weasel Wagon, Carolina Lakes Golf Course, Shaw Lanes Bowling Center, Skeet & Trap Range, Woodland Pool, Wateree Rec Area, Outdoor Recreation, Spratt Education Center, Fitness Center, ITT, McElveen Library, MPF & IDs, Arts & Crafts Center, A&FRC.
