MACON O'DELL MOSES

Macon O'dell Moses, 53, departed his earthly life on Monday evening, April 30, 2018, at his home in Sumter.

Born on Sept. 17, 1964, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Frank Moses Jr. and Delores Harding Moses. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School Class of 1984, where he excelled academically and played sports. He also attended Newberry College. After college, Macon pursued a career as an insurance claims adjuster for more than 20 years in Atlanta, before returning to Sumter to lend his skills to a local law firm. Although not formally trained, many people can attest to his outstanding culinary skills. His favorite chef was Bobby Flay and all of his dishes left us wanting more.

His leaves to cherish his rich life: eight siblings, Zelda A. Moses, Sharon F. Moses, Frank E. Moses (Annette), Darryl B. Moses, Carmen F. Moses, Cassandra O. Turner, Michael J. Moses Sr. and Neill O Moses (Wanda); two aunts, Doretha Thompson (Carl W. Thompson Jr.) and Alethia Moses; a hosts of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the family home, 103 Harris St., Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Bethel AME Church, 219 E. Calhoun St., Sumter, with the Rev. Davie Brown, pastor, eulogist.

The remains will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be at Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cains Mill Road, Sumter.
