Mother Maggie McMillian was born on March 22, 1927, in Sumter County, to Phillman and Pauline Windom McFadden.

Mother Maggie McMillian was united in holy matrimony to Hampton McMillian Sr. With much tender loving and caring, they were blessed to raise six children.

Mother Maggie McMillian was preceded in death by two sons, Robert McFadden and James Edward Jenkins; and eight siblings, Verline Muldrow, Evangelist Rosa Wilson, Mary S. Thompson, Minister Martha Melton, Jennette Johnson, Johnny McFadden, Isaac McFadden and Tillman McFadden.

Mother Maggie McMillian departed this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in Sumter.

Mother Maggie McMillian is survived by her husband, Hampton McMillian Sr.; her children, Jimmy McMillian (Tammy Blanding), Hampton (Agnes) McMillian, Bobbie (Milton Lucious) Burns and Gloria McMillian; godson, Elder Barrington (Betty) Pierson; two goddaughters, Minister Viola Linton and Shalon (Anthony) McConico; four daughters-in-law, Margret McMillian, Lula McMillian, Katie McFadden and Elaine McFadden; granddaughter reared in the home, Tiffany Burns; great-grandson reared in the home, Preston Burns; five siblings, Emma Capers, Annette Abrams, Shirley McFadden, Gloria Peeles and George McFadden; 18 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and one best friend and traveling partner, Missionary Irene Melton.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday at St. Paul Holiness Church, 129 W. Moore St., Sumter, with Elder Barrington Pierson, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

A public viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the mortuary.
