A 37-year-old Sumter man was arrested on Wednesday on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor after the elementary-aged victim came forward to report the abuse that is thought to have spanned two years.
Jason Allan Lynch, who lives south of Furman Middle School, is accused of raping a girl over the time when she was 6 and 8 years old between April 1, 2016 and March 25, 2018, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
The supposed crimes occurred at two different locations — Lynch's house and another residence in Cherryvale.
An arrest warrant was issued on April 10.
He said the girl reportedly came forward after realizing the repeated acts were wrong.
