MARIE A. MCNEILL

Marie A. McNeill, 77, transitioned from her earthly home peacefully on Monday evening, Dec. 10, 2018, at Providence Hospital, Columbia.

Born on Feb. 18, 1941, in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Eugene David and Gussie Mae Penson Jones. She received her formal education from Sanders High School in Laurens. Upon completing high school, she moved to Brooklyn, New York. She retired from Maggie L. Walker School PS 390, Brooklyn. She attended St. Paul Baptist Church in Laurens. After moving to New York, she continued her Christian journey by attending church.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Nancy (Jonathan) Anderson of Columbia; her son, Robert McNeill of Brooklyn; one brother, David E. (Joyce) Jones of Simpsonville; two brothers-in-law; seven sisters-in-law; two grandchildren; an adopted daughter, Mae McGruder; a host of special nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 145 W. Bridge Road, Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Genesis Church of God in Christ, 1215 Heyward Brockington Road, Columbia, with Dr. K.A. Kershaw officiating, eulogist.

The funeral procession will leave at 1:30 p.m. from the home.

Burial will be at the Promised Land Cemetery, Columbia.
