MARLYN M. BANZON

Marlyn Manlangit Banzon, 44, wife of Col. Roy Dominguez Banzon, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Mrs. Banzon was born on March 17, 1974, in Tambo, Philippines, a daughter of Sotaro Manlangit Sr. and Ladevina Abenido Manlangit. After graduating from Tambo National High School, she worked abroad in South Korea, where she met her husband, Roy Banzon, who is currently in the United States Army. They married in 1998 and were stationed overseas in South Korea, Japan and Qatar. Their stateside duty stations included Fort Lee, Virginia, and Shaw Air Force Base. Marlyn worked as a cosmetologist in Japan and a Zumba instructor in South Korea. She was a dedicated mother to her seven children and a supportive wife to her husband in the U.S. Army. She enjoyed running 5Ks, Crossfit, swimming and traveling. Marlyn completed a sprint Iron Man event and a full marathon in Doha, Qatar. She loved cooking and growing her own fresh fruits and vegetables. She was very involved in volunteering in support of church activities, which included soup kitchens and orphanages. Marlyn loved planning and executing huge family reunions and events. Even though she was diagnosed with cancer early this year, she went waterfall jumping, swam with whale sharks and also went scuba diving for the first time. Marlyn was a loving wife, an amazing mother, a supportive sister, an honorable daughter and a loyal friend.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are four sons, Michael Banzon and his wife, Frechiel, of the Philippines, Ryan Banzon of Las Vegas, Romar Banzon of Charleston and Nicasio Banzon of Sumter; three daughters, Mandy Menzimer and her husband, Lee, of Korea, Michelle Banzon of Charleston and Nicole Banzon of the Philippines; four brothers, Max Manlangit and his wife, Keli, of Houston, Sotaro Manlangit Jr. and his wife, Lilim, of the Philippines, Gohnjose Manlangit and his wife, Enel, of the Philippines and Peter Manlangit of the Philippines; four sisters, Marley Busgano and her husband, Venerando, Margie Dimson and her husband, Dioscoro, Merci Manlangit and Buen Moraga and her husband, Renaldo, all of the Philippines; and one grandson, Michael Banzon Jr.

Mrs. Banzon was preceded in death by one brother, Marlon Manlangit.

A funeral mass will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Church, Shaw AFB, with Monsignor Mark Rowan officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bullock Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. on Friday at Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Church.
