Born on June 5, 1933, in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Oder and Lurethia Watson. She attended Lincoln High School in Sumter County. She also attended Central Carolina Technical School, where she earned associate degrees in business marketing and management. She was employed with and retired from Sumter School District 17. She was married to the late Clyde Dean Taylor.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: her son, Randi (Dorothy) Taylor; her daughters, Coeran (Alfred) Thompson of Columbia, Diane (Michael) Harris of Greenville, Sonya (Willie) Phillips of Sumter, Bernetta Taylor Peeples of Atlanta and Adria Taylor of Easley; her sister, Cathy Atkins of Sumter; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Watson of Sumter and Doris Taylor of Orange City, Florida; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Ann Taylor; her brother, James Watson; and one stepson, Herbert Huff Jr.
Public viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary Inc.
Mrs. Taylor will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.
The homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Westend Community Church, 101 S. Salem St., Sumter, with Pastor Joann P. Murrill officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, 660 Sierra St., Sumter.
Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
