Maxine Best, 72, peacefully transitioned from this life on earth to her heavenly home on Monday, June 24, 2019, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia.

Born on May 24, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Mat Lee Best and Nettie Bell Best. She attended the public school system of Brooklyn and graduated from Clara Barton High School. After high school, she was employed at Depository Trust Co. (DTC) for years, until her health declined and she retired.

Her memories will be cherished by her only daughter, Gardenia Crystal Robinson (Reginald Neal) and two grandsons, Dior Towell Robinson and Dominic Henry Robinson (Kaneisha Brunson), all of Brooklyn, who now reside in Sumter; her sisters, Evelyn Morris Cummings (Zephrine) of Brooklyn and Minnie Lee Hall (Ludwick) of Queens, New York; a special great-grandson, Dominic Karter Robinson of Sumter; a special friend, Clarence Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the home of her daughter, 125 Roxbury Court, Apartment 104, Sumter.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks officiating, eulogist.

The funeral procession will leave at 9:20 a.m. from the home.
