McKinley "Kenzie" Brogdon Sr. was born on March 4, 1950, in Sumter, the third of six children to the late Sod Sr. and Daisy Roman Brogdon. Kenzie departed his earthly life on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at his residence.

Kenzie was educated in the public schools of Sumter and was a 1969 graduate of Eastern High School. He was formerly employed at Bosch Corp. of Sumter and UTI/Invista of Camden. Kenzie was most recently employed by Sumter School District.

Precious memories will be shared by his two sons, McKinley Brogdon Jr. of the home and Channon Brogdon of Asheville, North Carolina; two daughters, Elder Tabitha Brogdon of Lithonia, Georgia, and Tonetta Hunt of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Laken Halley, McShayla Brogdon and Nigel Brogdon, all of Sumter, Amilyah Harris of Asheville, Eric Tobin, Christopher Tobin and V'ladell Rhames, all of Lithonia, and Jakala Gates of Rocky Mount; four sisters, Ruth Charles, Felicia (Alphonso) Brogdon Graham and Genovia Brogdon Thomas, all of Sumter, and Lavetta (Fred) Brogdon Smith of Norcross, Georgia; one brother, Osteen Brogdon of Columbia; aunts and uncles, Aubrey Brogdon Johnson of New York, New York, Sadie (Willis) Roman White, Flora (Thomas) Roman York, Gloria (Lucius) Roman Felder, Johnnie "J.L." (Miriam) Roman, Barbara Roman Jackson and McKinley Wilson Sr., all of Sumter; six nieces; two nephews; 10 great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.

In addition to his parents, Kenzie was preceded in death by a brother, Saul "J.B." Brogdon Jr., and a sister, Naomi Ruffle.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Mr. Brogdon will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. on Monday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave. Sumter, SC 29150 with Pastor Frederick Graves officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 p.m. daily at the home of his sister, 910 ReedRoman Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
