McLeod Orthopaedics Clarendon welcomes Christensen to team

MANNING - McLeod Health welcomes Bryan L. Christensen, MD, to the medical staff. Christensen provides a full range of orthopaedic services and care at McLeod Health Clarendon. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Christensen attended Furman University in Greenville, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and was an ROTC scholar. He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, where he trained at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well as Bethesda Naval Medical Center. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at a joint program between Texas Tech University and William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He also trained at St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Christensen served as a United States Army orthopaedic surgeon for 11 years which included deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait and served as the chief of orthopaedic surgery at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital. After two years, he then transferred to Moncrief Army Community Hospital in Columbia, where he served as chief of orthopaedic surgery as well chief of surgery for eight years. He received several Meritorious Service Medals as well as the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters during his distinguished military career.
