Motorcyclist killed in collision with car on Sumter County road

A motorcyclist was killed in a wreck Saturday afternoon when the vehicle was struck by a car at the intersection of Pinewood and Cains Mill roads.

The wreck happened about 3 p.m. when the 2010 Hyundai pulled out in front of Scott Zeiler, 50, of Sumter, who was traveling south on Pinewood Road, after stopping at a stop sign on Cains Mill Road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins.

Zeiler was not wearing a helmet, he said.

Collins said the driver of the Hyundai was not injured.

This collision is still under investigation by highway patrol.
