NAOMI MOORE MERCHANT

LAURINBURG, N.C. - Naomi Moore Merchant, age 86, of Laurinburg, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2018.

She was born on Aug. 14, 1932, in Chadbourn, North Carolina, the loving daughter of the late Charlie and Leah Hardie Moore. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. She loved gardening, listening to music and dancing. She formerly served as a member of Order of the Eastern Star. Naomi's greatest joy was sharing her time with family and her dog, Daisy.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Merchant; son, Barry Walters and daughter-in-law, Debbie Walters; and her brothers, Elmer Moore and Layton Moore.

Naomi is survived by her children, daughter, Paula Love (Richard) of Laurinburg; sons, Jimmy Walters of Chadbourn and Curtis Walters (Cynthia) of Whiteville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Adam Jones, Lizzey Love, April Mash, Lisa Thomas and Christy Walters; and four great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service was held on Monday at Hillside Memorial Park in Laurinburg.

The family requests memorial donations be given in her memory to Scotland Regional Hospice, P.O. Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353.
