Sumter police seek identity of alleged utility trailer thieves

Sumter Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying three men captured on video surveillance during the alleged theft of a utility trailer from a business on Oct. 16.

The black enclosed trailer, containing furniture, was reportedly stolen from Ron's Used Cars, on Bultman Drive between 5 p.m. Oct. 15. and 5:30 a.m. Oct. 16. The trailer is 8-feet-by-16 feet with a diamond plate on the front, according to a release from the police department.

One of the men involved was wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans and a baseball cap; another was wearing a T-shirt and khaki shorts; and the third man was shirtless and wearing blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700.

Information can also be given anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC. A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
