The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a 12-year-old boy who went missing on Monday.

Jakell Simmons, who is described as black with black hair and brown eyes, 5-foot-4-inches and 125 pounds, was last seen at his home after school on Dorsey Drive in Cherryvale, according to Ken Bell, public information officer for the sheriff’s office.

His parents picked him up at Furman Middle School on April 16, Bell said.

Jakell was last seen wearing a white or blue uniform shirt and khaki or blue pants.

Any ideas of his whereabouts are unknown, Bell said. The boy has no known medical or mental health conditions.

There has been no evidence of foul play and nothing to indicate he is in danger, but the sheriff’s office is remaining cautious and actively seeking to find him, Bell said. He has no history of running away.
