Olivia Blanding Johnson was born on Feb. 22, 1947, in Manning, a daughter of the late Theodore R. and Mary Lizzie Blanding. She departed this life on Nov. 25, 2017, at Palmetto Health Baptist hospital in Columbia.
Olivia gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School. She later moved to New York to pursue a career as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan, New York. After many years of service, she continued in the public education system of New York. She was married to the late Charles Clinton Johnson for 24 years and from this union a daughter, Trisha, was born.
She leaves to mourn: a devoted daughter, Trisha Nicole Johnson; a grandson, Tyleek A. Robinson; granddaughter, Tileah A. Johnson-Mack; four sisters, Alma Montgomery, Naomi Blanding, Freedosher Campbell and Frances M. Blanding; three brothers, Richard Blanding, Deacon David J. (Lilly) Blanding and Minister Ashby S. (Lorna) Blanding of Riverdale, Georgia; a stepson, Charles (Janice) Johnson ll; a stepdaughter, Martha Edward; brother-in-law, Ernest (Diane) Harrod; a special granddaughter, Annette Johnson; and a host of other relatives.
Her homegoing service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Mount Zero Missionary Baptist Church, 7827 Paxville Highway / S.C. 261, with the Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Richburg officiating. The Rev. Lillian Wright will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson will be placed in the church at noon for viewing until the hour of service.
The family is receiving friends at the home, 1203 Manning Road, Sumter.
