ALCOLU - Pansy Marie Matthews Guins was born on Sept. 26, 1929, and lived a full and happy life. She went to be with her heavenly father on Aug. 21, 2018.

She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Edward and Sulie Bryant Matthews. Pansy spent her entire life sewing and operated her own sewing and alterations business. She enjoyed life and loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her five children, Jimbo Thompson of Clayton, North Carolina, Michael Thompson and his wife, Bobbie Ann, of Conway, Phillip Thompson of Sumter, Johnny Thompson of High Point, North Carolina, and Debra Thompson of Alcolu; 14 grandchildren, Bridgett, Ron, Tony (Elizabeth), Kristty, Tiffany, April (Steve), Mat (Jaimie), Elizabeth (Willie), Chris, Greg, Brandy (Denny), Robert, Chloe and JoJo; 26 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and granddog, Jase.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Deleon Matthews, Winston Matthews, George Matthews and Charlie Matthews; her sister, Sue Nobles; and grandson, Michael "Little Mike" Thompson.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Browder and the Rev. Tony Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Debra, in Alcolu.
